I am typically a patient person. I try not to let little annoyance get to me. But as you can see from my picture today was just not my day. If you’d like an everyday product to drive you into a downward spiral of rage when it malfunctions for the 1000th time while you are barley hanging on keeping up with the impossible work load you have as a mother. Then go ahead and buy this diaper genie! I will say having a designated spot in the nursery for dirty diapers is great. It does keep the smell down so I will give points where points are due. Where it goes south is things like capacity. I can make it maybe 1.5 days before it’s full! That’s with 1 child in diapers that spends weekdays in daycare. It doesn’t hold crap! And once it starts to get full the little open/close part on the inside that helps hold the stink in starts to jam! So there would be more room for dirty diapers but you can’t get the damn thing open! So if you’re like me, a real life mom, trying to wrangle an infant that wants to alligator roll off the changing table, having to fight to get a poopy diaper in the diaper pale while also making sure your child doesn’t roll off the table, is not my idea of a good time! But if you try to shut the lid it then won’t close, forcing you to try to wiggle the dirty diaper down the slot, which it never fails you then end up with poop or pee on your hands! So now you have to try to hold you kid, while cleaning poop off you hands and your older child is screaming for you from the bathroom to wipe their butt in the background! I don’t have time to deal with poop in places it’s not supposed to be! So now in the middle of the chaos I just set the diaper down on the changing table until I find the time to come change the diaper genie. So that’s problem 1. Problem 2 is the bags are worthless!! Again I think this is part of the capacity issue. But they also rip so easy!! My god as if I don’t have more than enough on my plate now I’m dealing with a pile of dirty stinky diapers on the floor when I try to change the bag! Are you kidding me! I will say this is how I realized how much stink this thing does hold in because omg I will throw up! Now to lead me to problem #3 and the now fully broken diaper genie that met it’s demise in a fit of mom rage. With the issue of the open/close part I mentioned earlier. So it fill up to fast, then stops opening correct right… well when that happens it pushes the little lever thingy up which it can’t go up because the open/close part is not opening or closing! So it pops out! Meaning you have to take the whole stupid thing apart and reassemble the whole dumb thing! This has happened idk how many times but oh my god it makes me want to pull my hair out! So that leads me to today. When I had to change the bag after changing it yesterday. I got the stupid diapers out. The bag ripped, great, so I clean that up and go to put the new bag in. I can’t get it open. The push lever on the bottom is not working because now it’s managed to jam itself so bad that the top won’t even open for me to take it apart and fix it. So I am trying and trying to get the dumb thing apart when finally I simply cannot take it and I kick the dumb thing into submission. Which led me to this review. All of these things may seem little. And silly to rage over. But believe me, your day will come. When for the 1000th time this stupid thing breaks, and on top of all the other things you are trying to juggle you just won’t be able to cope anymore. So as I said. If you want an everyday item to drive you over the edge. Buy this diaper genie.
