Product Description

UV-50X2 Second Generation Ham, Commercial Mobile Radio

UV-50X2 (Second Generation) 50W Mobile Two Way Radio

Second Generation

The UV-50X2 is very much the same radio, our users have come to enjoy, with several new functionality improvements. The UV-50X2 has seen several performance improvements and tweaks in its second generation release.

RJ45 Audio Input & Output

The UV-50X2 has new menus and operations that allow audio I/O from its RJ45 microphone port. This allows the UV-50X2 to be installed for custom applications, where users want more control on where the speaker and mic audio is routed to.

VOX Handsfree Support

The UV-50X2 (Second Generation) includes VOX support. VOX allows for handsfree use with your favorite audio accessories or the included handheld microphone.

In the Box:

  • UV-50X2 Mobile Radio
  • DTMF Handheld Microphone
  • 6.5' Direct Connect 12V Leads
  • Vehicle Mounting Bracket
  • Screws & Mounting Hardware
  • Easy-to-read Manual (written in the US)
  • RJ-45 to Kenwood K1 Accessory Adaptor

BTECH Radios are not like other similar looking radios. BTECH radios are designed in the USA with custom firmware and internal hardware differences. BTECH radios are backed with a full US support. A BTECH label means you are getting the best radio available! A few of our highlighted differences are below:

  • BTECH radios use an upgraded Power Chipset
  • Customizable PTT Return Times: When handling multiple conversations, the radio allows users to customize if the radio automatically switches to respond to active channels, or allow the user to set one channel default to transmit on.
  • Dual Synchronize Display Mode: Synchronize Up to 2 Channels - and display both their channel name and channel frequency!
  • Microphone Audio Gain Settings: Sound great and customize your microphone output for any repeater
  • Expanded Frequency Range Support
  • Auto Power Off Function: Save your battery and prevent unnecessary power draining
  • Channel Mode Editing Settings: Edit saved memory channels on-the-fly; our radio does not require you to delete a channel to make changes
  • New Scanning Modes: Auto Scan (Scan with a power reboot), Scanning Resume, and Variable Frequency Scanning
  • Quad Watch Delay Time: Allows the receiver to stay on the secondary channel longer after incoming transmission - customize the delay up to 50 seconds; This avoids manually channel switching when you are engaged with simultaneous contacts on two frequencies
  • Randomization Privacy Mode

UV-50X2 Second Generation VHF/UHF radio

RJ45 to K1 Audio Adaptor

The UV-50X2 includes a RJ45 to K1 Audio Adaptor. K1 Audio accessories are used on our BTECH handheld radios, and now you can use those same accessories with your mobile radios!

The radio includes special menus to allow audio to be routed both through the UV-50X2 and K1 accessory, only through the radio, or only through the K1 audio accessory.

Uniquely customize your UV-50X2

The X-Series Mobiles use our Multi-Color LCD display screen. You can adjust the complete display colors to be exactly as you want it. Beyond the display, you can fully customize your channels to display their alpha-numeric names or frequency settings.

There are 200 programmable memory channels. You can add or remove channels from scanning list. You can easily program from a PC or right on the radio itself.

Pair the UV-50X2 with the Nagoya UT-72 Magnetic Mount Antenna for easy installation with the UHF antenna connectors.

Group Tones supported

The UV-50X2 supports the most common Analog Tones. It supports CTCSS, DCS, 2Tone, 5Tone, and DTMF calling methods. Set-up your calling methods to call by group tones. Tone calling (private line) is required by most repeater applications and the UV-50X2 supports the latest standards.

The UV-50X2 can even send DTMF tones. This allows for sending ANI (Caller ID) or remote commands that require DTMF tones; or it can receive incoming DTMF tones to allow for remote stun or kill commands

Quad Watch and Display Sync

The UV-50X2 operates as multiple radios in one, with either VHF or UHF as the 'Main' band, while simultaneously watching up to 3 other frequencies or channels; and, if you like, you can configure your UV-50X2 for simultaneous VHF-VHF or UHF-UHF operation, too! Additionally, as a new feature added: you can monitor both VFO (frequency) and channel modes simultaneously.

Dual Sync DIsplay:

With Dual Sync Display, you can synchronize channel lines to one or two channels. This allows you to sync display 'lines' to a single channel allowing the user to have both frequency and channel name data displayed simultaneously.

Replaced a broken Yaesu - I'm impressed!

Replaced a broken Yaesu - I'm impressed!
I've always been a Yaesu guy for both my mobile and handheld transceivers, but I bought a couple of "disposable" Baofeng UV-5Rs to hand out as loaners and have been nothing but impressed with how well they've held up to real-world use. Now that almost everyone is using a Baofeng UV-5R, there's a large track record of reliability. When my mobile Yaesu FT-8800 broke, I considered replacing it with another Yaesu, but after some consideration and comparison of the specifications, I decided to go with this Baofeng instead. So far, I'm VERY impressed with it. I thought I would be somewhat disappointed by "downgrading" from a premium brand to an entry-level brand, but I honestly like this Baofeng/BTECH better. Its build quality is easily on par with the Yaesu. The learning curve has been straightforward, and programming it with CHIRP is as easy as can be. It mounted in my Jeep directly into the Yaesu's mounting bracket, and all the power, antenna, and external speaker hookups plugged right in. I really like the display and its ease of use. I'm still adjusting the microphone gain to optimize it for the noisy environment in my Jeep, but everyone I've spoken to has reported great QRK.
