I was going to buy this part from an appliance parts website but they were charging over $100. I couldn't pass this deal up. Perfect fit and looks identical to the part that was in my fridge to begin with. Has been working flawlessly since installed.

How you know you need this part: If your freezer has ice at the bottom and icicles all the way down, or if the trough for the incoming water to the ice maker keeps freezing solid and ice cannot be made. These are all signs that the solenoid in your water inlet valve isn't fully shutting when it should and water is slowly trickling out. As it enters the freezer in such small quantities and with no real speed, it freezes quickly where it shouldn't. If it freezes and blocks the hole for the water to flow through to get to the ice tray, then every time the ice maker calls for ice you'll have 4oz of water hitting that blockage and splashing out and running down your fridge.

I replaced my 21 year old water valve not because it needed replacing but because I was trouble shooting why no water was getting into my ice maker. So I ordered several different components until I found the issue. Ending up being the direct water line to the ice maker was clogged with debris from and old water filter I was still using. After removing the water line and just about to replace it, I cleared the debris out in my sink and reinstalled it. Now it works along with my replaced ice maker. So these extra components were returned and decided to keep this water valve proactively. The water filter was replaced as well. LOL
