I bought these shocks for my 2006 Ram 2500 Cummins ...

I bought these shocks for my 2006 Ram 2500 Cummins ...
I bought these shocks for my 2006 Ram 2500 Cummins Turbo Diesel 4WD. They are truly phenomenal!! Massive improvement in ride quality, road dampening and handling capabilities are now much improved! If you have an 03-08 Ram HD truck, these are THE shocks to get! My only regret is that I didn't get them much sooner!

Greatly improved ride and well made. Not much else to say.

Installed easy about 1.5 hour job. Here's a rough guide to help you decide if you want to put them on yourself.
Tools needed
Flathead screw driver,15 mm,9mm, 18mm, 3/4 wrenches, 6mm Allen wrench, 22mm 15mm sockets,,extentions and rachets. A jack really helps to unload the front to make the job easier, just make sure you lift the frame not the axle.
On the passenger side Take the airintake off to the turbo, undo the three shock tower nuts, the bolt through the bottom through the hole in the spring mount, there's no nut to worry about. pull out the shock and tower out in one unit, it is easier to take off the upper mount nut off with the shock out.
Driver side Take the upper mount nut off first, then the lower, then the three tower nuts you can pull the tower over and up above the fuel filter housing then you can take the shock strait up. To install you just basically reverse the steps, it helps to have a piece of 1.5 inch pvc pipe about 2 foot long to push the tower down with the new shocks. Hope this helps someone.

After installing a 2 inch front leveling kit on my 2016 Ford F350 4x4 with 9,000 miles on it I was not happy with the ride or how the truck handled on rough roads. I was also experiencing some steering instability over real rough pot holes and bumps, the type which makes the truck hop. So I decided to change the front shocks and after some research on brands, sizes, etc, I opted for these Bilsteins. Frankly, I wasn't expecting a huge change since this is a heavy duty truck but I can honestly say that the ride difference is amazing and was noticeable immediately and the stability has been restored. I am very impressed with these Bilsteins and would not hesitate to recommend them. Well worth the price (which is great by the way) and the time to install. Amazon says these do not fit a 2016 Ford F350 and they may not fit stock applications but they did work with my leveling kit.

Fit perfectly on '97 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport 4x4. Made the mistake of unlashing both shocks at the same time. This allowed one to expand more than the other and caused more effort to compress during install; however I installed it with the suspension loaded. As far as performance, they feel nice; however I suffer boiled-frog syndrome and never realized how bad I had it; I just believed my truck was too weighted down with tools. I was bottoming out going over speed bumps at moderate speed, and now it feels like I'm catching air off a "sweet jump".

I had trouble choosing between all the brands; one reviewer claimed to have been through Rancho's Monroe's, and KYB's with a similar vehicle and claimed all to be crap. Some folks had good things to say about the Rancho 9k's; another claimed they crapped out a year later; call me crazy, but the name "Rancho" sounds like Mexican garbage....I don't like it, and they've got that stupid white with red boot going on....I don't like it. Bilstein now...that's got to be German...the box showed up. I pulled out the install guide; German as fcuk. Stainless steel body just spoke to me, and once in hand they felt....German. I've heard the name growing up in tuner magazines, Bilstein just connected; first simile to come to mind is "bolster" yeah that sounds right. Better than "Crapos" or "mundane Monroe". I believe KYB would have been my next choice, but these were out for a good price and German. I've driven and own German cars, if one thing they get right is suspension...so I have faith in them. I've also driven domestics... Total crap. Not that I prefer a Kia, but a Dodge Caliber vs a Mini Cooper is like a Soap Box vs Roll Royce. In fact my Dodge is due to be superceded by a Mercedes Sprinter. Wish domestic truck manufactures would catch on to overseas production and give us more low displacement diesels; claim there's no market for it, you can't sell it if it's not on the shelf. Then they sell it way overpriced.

Germany...Germany knows what they're doing. The shocks read "assembled in USA" so I'm still supporting our robots. Until the dems stop taxing the rich, we will never be industrious. Plus kids are lazy again.

Great shocks, the only issue is you have to remove the yellow strap that comes on the shock which keeps it compressed to get the rubber mount and washer on prior to sticking it through the upper mounting hole. Not a big deal just press the bottom end on a board while putting your weight on it, remove yellow band, install grommet and washer the depress it again to reinstall yellow band.

After installing these shocks on my 2001 Ram 1500 Sport, my truck now handles much better. I installed them at the same time as the rear 5100 series shocks, and the difference was immediate. Heavy braking feels more stable, turns feel more controlled, and going over rough parts on the local freeway is not a white knuckle experience. Some parts of the freeway used to challenge me to keep it between the lines, but now I cruise through with little effort. It handles more like a sports SUV than a full-sized pickup. If it's been a while since you've changed your shocks, just go ahead and throw some 5100 series on. You won't regret it. I haven't had them for a long period of time yet, but I'm hoping they'll continue to perform.
