I originally tried the WJB (I think that’s it) bearing. It fell apart out of the box. Timken costed more but was way better quality.
I originally tried the WJB (I think that’s it) bearing. It fell apart out of the box. Timken costed more but was way better quality.
Some suggestions:
1- Have a good snap ring tool on hand. I didn't and ended up using some needle nose pliers that worked but not well. I'm lucky I found the ring after it went flying. Yes, I was wearing safety glasses. If I have to do this job for the other side I'm going to get the GearWrench 2012D. All the bad reviews seem to be old, so I'm willing to overlook them.
2- If you need to cut the inner race off of the hub use a Dremel tool with a cutoff wheel instead of a big grinder. This lets you get a whole lot closer to the flange of the hub and it's easier to be more accurate and carful. It also means that the cut will be pretty much parallel to the centerline of the hub. Then the inner race can be reused as a stop when you press the hub into the new bearing.
