Architectural Drafting for Interior Designers 2nd Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 55 ratings

There is a newer edition of this item:

Beginning interior designers can learn how to graphically communicate their ideas with a resource that is designed specifically for them. While traditional drafting books focus on architectural and engineering readers, Architectural Drafting for Interior Designers, Second Edition, eliminates irrelevant coverage and incorporates material and examples that are meaningful to today's interior designers. This book also addresses the specific needs of beginning interior designers by focusing on topics needed before AutoCAD is even introduced, such as how to draw a floor plan, how to use it to create an interior elevation, and how to understand the relationship between 2D and 3D drawings. Updated to include a new chapter on integrating software with hand drawings, and with content thematically reorganized, this edition is more comprehensive and intuitive than ever. The only book that is written to the standards of the National Council for Interior Design Qualifications (NCIDQ) and interior design trade associations like the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA), this will provide readers with a strong, standards-based foundation in interior design.

The second edition of this text is so great compared to the first! I almost don't need my professor with this edition! Oh, and way less typos ;)

This textbook has a lot of useful information in an easy to read format, but it is rife with typos. I'm only one month into an architectural drafting class and we have found a lot of mistakes in the book. I'm not talking about simple misspellings. They describe left hand and right hand doors incorrectly, they mislabel parts of windows in their diagrams, and some of their dimensions are off. You could end up learning things incorrectly if you rely on the information in this book.

The book needs some serious editing. Some text and illustrations are wrong, and sometimes they even contradict each other. I am not happy with this product but don't know if I can return it?

The content is good. I need this book for my interior design course. The only thing is, it is a huge book. I wish, the bindings where done so I can take only pages I need at the time, so I don't need to cart the whole book all the time! :)
