I have been playing this regularly since it arrived a couple of weeks ago. The build quality is great, the finish is beautiful, the spalted maple is also beautiful and each one unique. Even though Oscar Schmidt must be the lower end brand of the higher end Washburn, ( think Honda vs Acura) I think it is still on par with the Washburn guitar I already own. The inlaid mother of pearl adds a very classy touch, I don't know if it is real or man made mother of pearl, but either way, it looks great!. The sound is also great and compares favorably to other much more expensive guitars in my collection. The sound isn't quite as full as my vintage Yamaha FG-400A but since this is an acoustic/electric, if you want more sound, just plug it in to the amp. Also, the EQ adjustments are a nice touch on the pre amp. And it has a built in tuner on the pre amp as well.
Another review I read said to replace the strings, bridge and saddle, but this guitar comes with great strings, D'addario EXP, which is what I use on my best guitar anyway, and the bridge and saddle are NuBone, so they are NOT just cheap nylon or plastic parts.
I would not hesitate to recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a unique instrument that sounds and looks great and is still within the budget.

Sounds great and looks great.
I wanted to wait a few days while I evaluated this guitar. I will list the goods and a few bad.First it's a beautiful guitar. It's a eye Turner with the spalded wood front. It seems sturdy and solid. Mine had a small scuff on the back but I can hand buff that out. It played pretty good out of the box with a minor truss rod adjustment. Now the things I changed and I would recommend this as well.It has plastic bridge pins so order some bone, ebony or rosewood bridge pins. It will improve the sound. There cheap so it's easy to do. I did not like the strings so replace with what you like.Now the biggy. It's action was pretty high. One can look at a taylor, Martin or gibson and observe what a good action is. It is not hard to lower the action so perhaps get a nut file for 6 or 7 dollars and slowly bring it down. There are many tutorials out there for this.Despite the things I have mentioned it is still a great buy for the money. It would even be worth spending a 100 on to have it set up by a professional. It sounds good and the preamp seems to work well.This isn't going to sound like a $1000 guitar so don't expect that but it will sound like a guitar triple it's value with a few small inexpensive changes. I would recommend this guitar...

POOR QUALITY. LARGE CRACK IN WOOD UNDER BRIDGE.

This guitar arrived absolutely beautiful and I fell in love instantly! Unfortunately it didn’t last long because I tuned the strings and started playing and the G string had a horrible buzzing sound that was very annoying. The other strings sounded fine and I couldn’t figure out why it was doing that. It wasn’t so bad as to make the guitar unusable or horrible and I was still very happy with it. Well I played it a few times and this morning (three days after receiving) I woke up and went to play it and was really upset to see that a big crack is forming underneath the bridge. I’ve been very gentle with it and stored it properly and there is no reason other than poor quality that this could’ve happened. Very upsetting. I’ve included pictures of the guitar. The first two are from when I first got it and there was no crack and in the last two you can see the crack underneath the bridge.
