HAIER JUST CHANGED PRODUCT NUMBER! SAME JUNK! DO NOT BUY!!!!

HAIER JUST CHANGED PRODUCT NUMBER! SAME JUNK! DO NOT BUY!!!!
HAIER JUST CHANGED PRODUCT NUMBER! SAME JUNK DO NOT BUY!!!! That is the reason all reviews are from the last few months! Please review again after 400-500 hours, this hot summer! I am a disabled fixed income southerner who only uses fans until the temperature reaches at least 90 degrees. After criminal damage to outside cooling unit, during the summer 2013, I had visitors and for their comfort purchased Haier Model CPN12XCP “Commercial Cool” 12K Portable Air Conditioner. I did not check reviews of product prior to purchase, or I would not have done so. Since purchase, I have used, with mixed results, maybe a total of 500 hours. After two(2) weeks of use, off & on, in June 2015, a VERY LOUD noise came from unit and when I immediately turned it off, removed vent hose from window, pieces of plastic began falling out of hose. Turned back on & noise got worst. Viewed additional somewhat inaccessible plastic fan pieces 4” in length inside, was able to remove some very brittle pieces (photo attached). Called Haier at 1-877-337-3639 & was told it was out of 1 year warranty & I would have to pay subcontractor technician to come out & repair. They could not tell me what the technician visit charge would be excluding repair cost. They would have to find subcontractor technician in my area and get back to me. Beside that, why would I replace plastic pieces that will just break again from use in such a hot environment? Haier knows or should know that this product is defective & I am surprised that retailers continue to sell it! Had I used this DEFECTIVE product through normal use, it would probably have broken within warranty period! Buyer beware!!!! We are paying premium prices for trash! Lost over $300.00 on this. Not only Haier product I have had issues with, but the last!

You may pay a premium for this thing, but it is the Cadillac of portable AC units! Highly rated by Consumer Reports and sites, this model cools our huge bedroom quickly, and has multiple fan settings, timers and modes to choose from.Things that set this unit apart from other cheaper portables:
- DUAL hose design, allowing it to exhaust hot, humid air and pull in cool outside air
- 14,000 BTU rating, can quickly cool a HUGE room without effort
- EVAPORATIVE COOLING; this is the big one; no more overflowing water tank or having the unit shut off due to overflow, this model expels all its moisture through the exhaust on its own!
- Full function remote and convenient, informative LCD screen
- Customizable timer settings, 3 fan levels, and multiple modes to control dehumidifier/AC/fan settings
- Easily removable air filter

Some [minor] Cons:
- size; I understand it's a 14k BTU, dual hose, evap cooling design, but this thing is BIG. Make sure you have enough room to fit it.
- price; you pay for what you get, and unfortunately, this Haier's price matches its features.
- the audible confirmation BEEP when you turn the unit on/off, change the fan or mode, is pretty loud; I wish it could be disabled
- AC on/off cycle time; obviously the unit makes a noise when the compressor kicks on, I just wish it had a bit more hysteresis while trying to maintain a constant temp. For example, if the temp is set to 75F, it will cool the room to ~74F, shut off, room temp will creep up to 76F, then it will kick on again. This seems to happen fairly frequently, so it would've been nice if the hysteresis was something like 4 degrees F, OR was adjustable.

This is the second Haier we've purchased and we couldnt be happier! Our first one has been used for 4-5 summers and has proved to be physically durable and mechanically reliable. We purchased a second for our second kid's room. All in all, 4.8/5 stars.

This unit is a huge disappointment - the unit output is temperature is insufficient (60 degrees) to cool the space as advertised. The manufacturers response to my request for warranty service was denied - when I described the problem they agreed to dispatch a tech. However, the two firm they had under contract refused to come to my town to provide service (on the west cost of Florida in the lower Tampa bay). So without sending tech Haier's support team determined that the unit was functioning as it was designed to do - I installed it in an attached garage - the garage was well sealed against air leaks and both the garage attic space and doors were well insulated. Haier's bail-out line was that it wasn't designed to work in a garage but they couldn't explain the distinction between a fully insulated and sealed garage and an in-house space. Nothing in their literature says that the unit is not appropriate for a garage. They agreed that I bought proper size unit for the space. Still they refused to send a tech to examine the unit. They encouraged me to return it.

This is my second Haier portable AC. The first was bought 7 years ago and still works perfectly. I have never had an issue with it. It is 11000 btu's and cooled my entire 1 bedroom apt which is on the 2nd floor and gets full sun mid morning to sunset. I decided to give that one to my son and get myself a new one. I bought the 14000 btu only because I didn't see the 11000. The price was excellent! Only $50 more than the 11000 btu bought 7 years ago. I figured a larger one won't have to work as hard to keep me comfortable. This ac is very easy to set up and its slim design makes it easy to place. The wheels makes it easy to move. It runs pretty quiet, even on high. NO BUCKET TO EMPTY! Condonsation evaporates as stated. It is winter time now so i haven't run the new one except to test it. It passed with flying colors. Haier is top of the line in my opinion so I'm sure I won't have any problems when summer arrives.

Being a chinese-made product, the instructions are a little sketchy. For instance, it has a de-humidifier setting, but I still haven't figured out where all the water goes ? I have a dehumidifier and it comes with a huge tank and a hose. This apparently does not have a drain hose, so it must have a tank. But, I have yet to empty it. Which makes me conclude, that it probably doesn't work very well as a dehumidifier. I am trying to cool my 16X20 garage in SW Florida with it. It won't cool below 80F in the daytime, because it's just too hot down here. Perhaps it works well inside a house. I don't know. But, if you're going to cool a garage down with it, it may or may not meet your expectations. Current outside temps are between 85-91. So, it's having trouble cooling more than 11 degrees.
