This 2-CD set is a one-of-a-kind collection of some of the top organists in the world. John Scott, Stephen Tharp, Olivier Latry, Philippe Lefebvre, Daniel Roth, David Briggs and Thomas Murray are just a few of the musicians who have contributed their time and talents to this project.
The Kilgen Organ at Our Lady of Refuge Church in Brooklyn, New York, was in need of repair and refurbishment. To help fund the project, this CD set was created. It contains several pieces played on the OLR Kilgen, along with remarks by New York Times Managing Editor Craig Whitney.
The rest of this 2-CD set is a compilation of works played on some of the most famous organs in the world, including the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris; Philadelphia's John Wanamaker Organ; Yale University's Woolsey Hall; and St. Bavo in Haarlem, the Netherlands. Many of these tracks are not available anywhere else.
All the recitalists donated their services. Proceeds from the sale of the CDs will go to restoring the Kilgen Organ. This is an opportunity to acquire a unique collection of music and to contribute to the restoration of one of the finest Kilgen organs ever made.
